Wild Rose Cherry Porter - 30 Litre Keg

1. Introduction

Wild Rose Cherry Porter is produced in Canada, within the region of Alberta and the subregion of Calgary. Founded in 1996 by Mike Tymchuk and Alan Yule, Wild Rose Brewery began as an independent craft operation located in a Calgary industrial park before moving to a historic Quonset hut at Currie Barracks in 2006. In 2019, the brewery was acquired by Sleeman Breweries, which is a subsidiary of the Japanese company Sapporo Breweries.

2. Beer Description

This seasonal American style porter is brewed using a blend of sweet and sour cherries to create a profile reminiscent of Black Forest cake. It pours a deep brown colour with amber hues and a creamy tan head. The aroma is characterized by lush fruitiness, roasted caramel malt, milk chocolate, and a hint of coffee and smoke. On the palate, the beer is smooth and full bodied with a creamy texture, offering layers of sweet chocolate and tart cherry balanced by a slight smoky character from roasted malts. It finishes with a dry, bitter coffee note and has an ABV of 6.5%.
