Chateau Pegau Plan Pegau
The wine is a project of Laurence FĂ©raud, owner and winemaker of the renowned Domaine du Pegau. The FĂ©raud family has a long history of cultivating vines in the Provence region, dating back to 1670. Domaine du Pegau was launched in 1987 by Laurence and her father, Paul FĂ©raud, and is named after the terracotta wine jugs found in the excavations of the 14th century Popeâs Palace in Avignon. The winemaking philosophy remains deeply traditional, and this 'Plan Pegau' cuvĂ©e is considered the 'little brother' of the prestigious ChĂąteauneuf du Pape 'CuvĂ©e RĂ©servĂ©e'.
Wine Description
'Plan Pegau' is a distinctive, multi-vintage red blend that aims to capture the hallmark personality and style of Pegau in an approachable format. This rich, meaty red wine exhibits a bright red colour, sometimes with amber reflections. The aroma features notes of red fruits and spices, with some lots also showing dark berries, roasted meat, and black pepper. On the palate, it delivers layers of red and dark fruit character, soft, supple tannins, and complex spice notes from extended ageing.
Food Pairing
Suggested pairings for this rich, savoury Rhone-style red include all types of classic meat dishes, such as veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, and game.
